I know, I know, it should be August in this spot, but I am still waiting on some pictures from our Sea World adventure and plus its my blog, so I do what I want right?! Hopefully August will be next! September so far has been an amazing month for us!!!! I've been working for this last year with a haircare line that is in development and it has been so much fun. I spend a lot of time testing products and doing reports and evaluations. The creative director for this line is a clothing designer who was showing at Fashion Week in New York and our line was the exclusive line used by the hairstyling team for the show. Friday before the show, the line's publicist called me up and asked me if I could be in New York for Fashion Week to assist the hair team. I almost passed out! So I quickly ditched out of work and drug Dan through South Coast Plaza twice looking for the perfect outfit and shoes. I flew to NY on Wednesday and got to my fabulous hotel room on Times Square in time to eat and get a few hours sleep before the show on Thursday. Thursday was unbelievable!! The show was in a gallery space in Manhattan and we spend the morning going over talking points about the line and assembling gift boxes for each guest at the show. Up until this point, no one had clearly explained what I would be doing, so I was up for about anything. When our stylist, Didier Malige, and his team showed up, it was my job to educate them on our product line and answer any questions they had. We also discovered that Didier would not be bothered answering any media questions so I also became the spokesperson for him and the line and spend the rest of the afternoon interviewing with editors and distributors. It was crazy! At one point I was on camera interviewing JC, the designer, whom I has just met 5 seconds before the interview. Luckily they didn't tell me who most of these people were until after so I didn't panic when I spent 20 minutes chatting it up with the editor of Allure, or making small talk about the Vogue rep about her fab Prada shoes. The runway show was absolutely incredible!!! I can't accurately describe it, but I have a whole new appreciation for runway models, they were amazing to watch! I ended up sitting a few seats away from Chris March of last season's Project Runway, and he snubbed me when I said hi. Maybe he didn't hear, but really, what is with the attitude? I mean he did lose Project Runway twice in the same season!!!! My only disappointment was Anna Wintour of Vogue was on the guest list but I didn't see her. Other than that, my trip was a dream and I even got to spend a little time exploring the city and having lunch with my dear cousin Natalie before I left. I didn't get to take many pictures because I was so busy, but I found this one pic of me (yep, lower left corner) working with the stylists and models. And you can hit up these websites to see the runway show and the haircare line:
