August

Finally! Its a little out of order, but worth the wait! And this officially makes us caught up on our blog! Sweet! So August 5th was our 2 year anniversary. We started a little tradition of taking off for our anniversary weekend last year when we went to San Francisco. This year we decided to go to Santa Barbara and it was a blast. We stayed at a cute little motel by the beach that had beach cruisers you could just take out whenever. We wandered around the city, played at the flea market at the beach, and even attempted a ride on the tandem bike. It was way more fun than I thought it would be, except we officially looked like cheesy tourists! The weekend after we got home, my brother Ryan and his wife Jessica and their two kids Macey and McKree came to visit for 5 whole days (as Macey kept reminding us.) We went to the beach, where the kids loved the sand and didn't love the water!

The only way we lured Macey in was if she was holding someone's hand and looking for sea shells. She insisted on bringing a boogie board for her, but she wouldn't get near it once she was in the water.

We spent a day at Sea World where Macey fell in love with the Penqins and the Polar Bears. (I love McKree's little face in this picture! He is such a doll! In a tough-guy way of course!)

I think she thought the Polar Bears were cute and cudly because they were curled up sleeping most the time. But I think she had the most fun of all with her "best friend" Arfie (our dog.) She followed Arfie around endlessly!

If Arfie went out the dog door, Macey went out the dog door, if Arfie went into to Melinda and Norm's house (Dan's Mom and Step-dad), and straight through the kitchen down the hall and into the bedroom, so did Macey! That led to some awkward surprises for our neighbors! And most of all, if Arfie slept on the floor, Macey slept on the floor, right next to her. Who knew that our dog was the coolest part about a California vacation?! We loved having Ryan and Jess and the kids here! Our house went back to being so boring once they left, and Arfie missed her best friend, probably because we never crawl through dog doors or sleep on the floor with her! The end of August was my birthday! The big 28! Dan got me a new ipod with way more memory than my little nano so I have been working hard at filling it up! We had a great summer and it sad to see it come to an end, summer is my absolute favorite! (Thats why I moved to this place! I was trying to find all summer and no winter!)

It must be something about ocean water that scares kids. Presley wouldn't even go on the wet sand let alone near the water. Sam of course loved the ocean, I had to chase him out of it most of the time. Too funny about the dog, especially sleeping next to him.

Silly Macey. I can't believe Ryan's little boy is so big now. Holy mackerel!

Good job on catching up in the world of blog-land. I feel like I see more of you on here than in real life. We need to hang out sometime. I was so happy to see you at church today. I hope you are feeling better :)
